Captain Jarod Taylor received his commission from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY in May 2008, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in History.
Captain Taylor’s first assignment was as a Rifle Platoon Leader, later Executive Officer, later Assistant Operations Officer with 2d Battalion 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment (AIR), 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82d Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC. While assigned to 2-325 AIR, he deployed to Haiti in support of Operation UNIFIED RESPONSE in 2010 and to Iraq in support of Operation NEW DAWN in 2011. Following his assignment at Fort Bragg he attended the Maneuver Captains’ Career Course at Fort Benning, Georgia. Upon completion of the Maneuver Captain’s Career Course, he served as the Chief of Operations for 3d Cavalry Regiment (SBCT) at Fort Hood, TX and later took command of Ironhawk Troop, 3d Squadron, 3d Cavalry Regiment, deploying to Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and RESOLUTE SUPPORT from 2014-2015. Following that command, he served as the Chief of Plans for 3d Cavalry Regiment, and later took command of the Regimental Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 3d Cavalry Regiment. After changing command, Captain Taylor served as the Aide de Camp to the Commander, NATO Allied Land Command, forward deployed to Izmir, Turkey.
Captain Taylor is a graduate of Basic Officer Leader Course, the Infantry Officer Basic Course, the Maneuver Captains’ Career Course, the Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leader Course, Airborne School, and Air Assault School.
His awards and decorations include the Ranger Tab, Combat and Expert Infantryman Badges, Afghan Army Chief of Staff’s Commendation Award, and multiple foreign jump wings.
